Back again post football! Ale superb, bar staff really friendly & the Karaoke was a hoot!

beer was fine, but bizarrely found this to be far too comfortable a pub inside. A tad disappointing

Stopped off for a pint or three on the way to football yesterday, and was very impressed. Decent selection of Burton Bridge ales for just under £3 a pint as well as one guest ale from Herefordshire. Seemed to only be sandwiches available if you wanted food. Friendly and knowledgable bar staff and was very comfortable sat in the lounge area of the pub. Shame to have to leave and go to the game - especially as Plymouth lost in the last minute. Although that was a good reason to pop in on the way back to the station and have a quick pint to drown our sorrows.

This was the last of 2 pubs I had to do in Burton on my crawl day and I enjoyed The Alfred so much I missed The Old Cottage Tavern out of my crawl.
I had a pint of Burton's festival ale and it was very good.
Large pub with a good smattering of locals as well as people coming back from the football.
This and the Burton Bridge Inn for me are the best 2 pubs in Burton. I liked the look of the Coopers but I couldn't get a pint as it was so packed that I can't compare with the other 2

a rather good pint of Burton bridge Burton porter currently being quaffed (2.85) a nice friendly local sandwiched amongst a street of terraces,7/10

A mid street refurbed Burton Bridge house recreating the bar/lounge style of old. A top form pint of Bridge Bitter and genial hosts in a decent alehouse.

Smart looking place with an array of Burton Bridge beers on.
The Stairway to Heaven and Bridge Britter were excellent.
Didn't try the food but seems to cater for diners as well as drinkers quite well.

An excellent pub. A full range of Burton Bridge ales but I had an very nice pint of Ufford War Dog. Also had a decent cheese and onion roll. The interior has been updated but is in keeping with the age and history of the pub.

I am pleased, (and relieved), to be able to say I have now revisited this excellent establishment and can report that it is still an antidote to all those Australian Bars and theme pubs. It focuses on what pubs should do first and foremost, that is serve a cracking good pint. This it does, selling almost the whole range of Burton Bridge beers as well as an interesting guest ale. The owners are friendly as are the locals. So if you are a nineteen year old lout who wants to drink fifteen pints of lager and then regurgitate the contents whilst having a fight I would humbly suggest you visit the Engine in town and leave this gem to those who prefer a more relaxed pint.

I have it excellent authority that the Alfred re-opened on Friday last. Await with baited no longer Doctorpint and away for a restoratative pint.

Owned by Burton Bridge brewery this pub is presently closed for renovation. It was certainly one of my favourites prior to this. I anxiously await the reopening.
