The Fuggle and Nugget, Burton upon Trent
This is a micropub so by definition it is very small and the beers served are all direct from the cask. Fortunately they are kept in a chilled area so temperature is not a problem. Although it also serves wine, ciders and soft drinks clearly most punters go here for the beer and very good it is too. There is no hot food, no piped music, no jukebox, no large screen TV, no flashing fruit machine and no lager; if you want these facilities there are plenty of local pubs that offer them however, if you fancy quality beers from small breweries, (often from North Riding or Ashover), and conversation maybe you should give it a try!

The Dog, Burton upon Trent
In a previous life this pub was a truly awful place but since The Black Country Brewery took over and completely refurbished the place it has become a popular destination for drinkers in Burton-upon-Trent. Six handpumps serve a variety of beers from small breweries and always include at least one pale ale and one stout / porter. There are also four or five craft keg beers available plus ciders and flavoured gins. The staff are efficient and friendly serving a mixed clientele. I heartily recommend it.
