Leyton Orient Supporter's Club, Leyton

What a wonderful change from the majority of away grounds. Popped in for a couple before the sky blues v Orient game. Friendly staff, very amicable atmosphere and a good selection of well kept ales. Good luck for the rest of the season.

Flying Standard, Coventry

The standard has gone downhill rapidly since the departure of assistant manager, Sean. The majority of the guest ales are always not ready to be served even though the pump clips would suggest otherwise. Fairly clueless staff who seem to have a problem topping up your pint after they've served it with a huge head. I was even informed by one that it had to have a big head to make it legal. You couldn't make it up. Increasingly this pub is one to avoid. Its a real shame after it had improved considerably.

The Kelham Island Tavern, Sheffield

Thoroughly enjoyed my recent visit. Tried three Acorn beers. The Gorlovka, Old moor porter, and the Noel winter ale were all on fine form. Should have stayed here instead of wasting the afternoon at Oakwell.

The Fat Cat, Sheffield

White truffles, eh. I tried some white chocolate once. I look forward to hearing if these bourgeoise interlopers reappear. You sound like the last true working class hero. Lets hope they don't turn up at the winter ales festival in Manchester.

The Fat Cat, Sheffield

Always enjoyed my previous visits. However, this was a brief visit due to the laconic attitude of the bloke serving. We were made to feel as if we were inconveniencing him. Will give the cat a miss next time i'm in Sheffield.

The Seven Stars, Bristol

Popped in before and after the sky blues game. Tried Downton-dark delight, Blindmans- 2010 odyssey, Cotleigh-honey buzzard and Vale-seven nations. All were in excellent condition. The beer was very reasonably priced also. Cracking, friendly pub with a lot to recommend.

The Old Windmill, Coventry

First visit after an absence of several months. My pint of landlord was okay but certainly not worthy of a gbg listed pub. The decline of this establishment appears to be continuing. The prices are fairly expensive also. It will be a good while before i return here.

The Fat Cat, Sheffield

Wonderful place. Very good variety of ales. Beer was well priced and in excellent condition. The lunch i had was good value also. Definitely worth a visit.

The Kelham Island Tavern, Sheffield

First visit to kit after the match at hillsborough last sat. Excellent selection of ales. All the ones i tried were in excellent condition. Beer was reasonably priced. Look forward to getting back here before too long. Just a shame my mate had booked a later train home.

The Grapes Hotel, Coventry

chav central. Avoid at all costs.

The Beer Engine, Coventry

Spats. Wherever if was that you did end up, they have my total sympathy. What an idiot.

The Horse and Jockey, Corley

Best avoided. The pub doesn't appear to offer real ales anymore. Only John Smith's or Guinness available on a recent visit. I got the impression the place is dying a slow death.

The Goat Tavern, Kensington

Unfortunately this was the first pub we found on our way to the Bunnymen gig at the Albert Hall. It was difficult to differentiate between the London Pride and the Bombardier. Neither beer is well kept. Another overpriced Kensington pub serving poor quality beer. If economic conditions force3d this pub to close it wouldn't be any loss.

The Prince of Wales, Kensington

Truly, lifeless guest ale. typical overpriced Kensington pub. Avoid at all costs.

The Elephant and Castle, Kensington

I'm mystified as to how this pub has managed to attai n the cask marque. I tried a mediocre pint of Timothy Taylor Landlord followed by a slightly better Broadside. I suspect the locals have more money than sense. The landlord/landlady has a lot to learn about keeping a good pint.

The Bullers Arms, East Looe

Avoid at all costs. My seadog ipa was almost as bad as my girlfriends cloudy cider. Abysmally kept beer. Decent range of ales but what is the point when they taste as bad as that?

12 Sep 2008 21:46

The Crumplehorn Inn, Polperro

Tried a couple of pints here before taking the coastal path back to Looe. Was impressed with the proper job and the betty stoggs. Friendly service and excellently kept beer, a far cry from most of the pubs i visited in Looe. Didn't try the food but it looked good. Definitely worth a visit.

The Bull and Butcher, Corley Moor

The guest beer, Lancaster, was shockingly bad. Too many staring locals also. I won't be back. Another overated venue.

23 Jul 2008 17:36

The Oak, Baginton

Avoid the pasta if you are unfortunate enough to be eating here. It's cheap, low quality and the portions are incredibly small. Theres much better quality and value to be had elsewhere. There is certainly nothing special about the beer either.

23 Jul 2008 17:32

The Chestnut Tree, Coventry

Was served a rank pint of cascade at the weekend. Very expensive pub also. Best avoided. There are much better places to go locally than this dump

23 Jul 2008 17:24

White Lion, Coventry

Distinctly avearage beer. Was served the smallest portion of pasta possible. It was cheap low quality pasta as well. Abysmal value for money. Definitely will not be returning here. The people running this place have become arrogant and complacent.

19 Jul 2008 16:38

The Blue Blazer, Edinburgh

Only had the chance to visit twice. A cracking pub with an interesting choice of ales. Will definitely return on my next visit to Edinburgh.

17 May 2008 23:51

The Orange House, Coventry

If you are a chav then there is a good chance you will like this place. If you are not, then avoid at all costs. It's equally as mediocre as the nearby chicago rock cafe.

17 May 2008 23:47

The Old Windmill, Coventry

Usually has an interesting guest ale. Unfortunately the hobgoblin and Tim Taylor landlord have been declining in quality for some time now. Occasionally your senses are assaulted by deafening thrash metal played by the bar staff. The place could do with a seriously good clean as well. It wouldn't take too much effort to get this pub back to the high standard that it used to maintain.

17 May 2008 23:44

The Coventry Cross, Coventry

i'm led to believe that this pub has recently closed down. Just pray that the regulars don't decamp to your local pub in the city centre.

17 May 2008 23:02

Hare and Hounds, Coventry

Beer is decent, they had spitfire and broadside last time i came in here. However, the prices may make you think that you have been teleported to London. My friend had to wait half an hour for a cup of tea on a quiet afternoon. Probably better service if you are a local.

17 May 2008 22:46

The Bow Bar, Edinburgh

Enjoyed the decor and had a lovely pint of dark munro in here. Shame about the laconic person who served me. Perhaps its a locals only pub?

16 May 2008 22:15

The Last Drop, Edinburgh

A truly dismal pub. Arrogant doorstaff who act as if they are doing you a big favour letting you in. Abysmal service at the bar allied with poor beer. I won't make the mistake of ever coming here again. Why all the attitude, you're just serving drinks.

16 May 2008 22:05

The Halfway House, Edinburgh

It really is worth the effort to find this pub. Decent range of ales and friendly staff. Will definitely be back next time i'm in Edinburgh.

16 May 2008 21:59

The Town Wall Tavern, Coventry

Not overly impressed with the broadside or the spitfire last time i was here. Turn the jukebox off or turn it up so that you can hear it. Why the intterogation style lighting?

16 May 2008 21:52

The Nursery Tavern, Coventry

Not quite the real ale mecca that some make it out to be. Overpriced and very pleased with themselves.

16 May 2008 21:47

The Gatehouse Tavern, Coventry

Definitely worth a visit. They usually have at least one Church End beers on tap. Usually a pretty friendly pub.

16 May 2008 21:44

The Beer Engine, Coventry

Don't get here as often as i'd like but always have a cracking time when i do. Plenty of different ales to try at very reasonable prices. Friendly crowd and a live band on a Saturday evening.
