The Railway Tavern, Chelmsford
Chelmsford is a town with no character, few decent pubs and nowhere decent to eat - with the exception of this pub which is like a shining beacon of quality in a sea of dross. Warm and friendly place with character and good staff, excellent all day breakfast - the best you will find in Chelmsford. Highly reccomend!

One of the best pubs (if not the best) I have ever visited. Visited many times and always superb service and the food is always fantastic. A definate 10/10!

Went to this pub on a week day lunchtime. Looks very nice from the outside & is well presented inside and fairly large. We ordered food and waited 45 minutes for it to turn up (it wasn't exactly busy either) When the food finally arrived, the burger was burnt and very dry and the cheese we ordered for the meatball & spaghetti did not turn up. There were no sauces offered or provided and the drinks were expensive. Definately will not return and would not reccomend at all

The Cork and Cheese Ale House, Southend on Sea
Unfortunately this great pub is closing 30/7/07 due to the stupid smoking ban - there will be nowhere to accomodate smokers due to victoria circus being redeveloped to include a roof

The Cricketers Inn, Westcliff on Sea
Very cold characterless and expensive since refit a year or so ago...if you want to drink late better off going to bar lambs at the lamb & lion (sherlock)

This isn't really a pub it's a glorified restaurant! Yeah its situated right next to the woods which is nice but thats about all its got going for it! Was much better before it got taken over. It's now hugely over-rated & hugely over-priced.
