What The wife said: She loves the atmosphere and the food great pub to bring family and friends to spend a few hours garden facility great would recommend to anyone who askes where are the good local pubs, but what a shame about the decoration looks like something out of the next catalogue where are those lovely wall lights replaced by something modern which does not match the period of this type of pub it now reminds her of a bit next catalogue and mac donalds. what a miss match a.

Visited the Cock Inn yesterday (28/04/2013) after the renovation, absolutely packed with people having the Sunday roast and whatever on the menu.
Atmosphere warm and friendly as were the staff, Beer was great and the manager was smiling and chatting as normal, all in all apart from the renovation nothing had changed and would recommend it to anyone! even the royalty if they were passing!!
Only one gripe from the wife! why did they get rid of the lovely comfortable leather sofa's? yes they were a little tired and could have had a makeover but! they were comfortable highly desired by most of the customers, shame but would recommend the Pub to anyone and after looking at the reviews all agree.

A pub on the village outskirts which has had it's problems over time with first attendances and second the flooding issues around the place locally. Last time in was Sundaylunch and it was busy and everyone was scoffing down the scra. The beer's ok and has two/three real ales - the last one wasn't the greatest but believe generally it's ok.

Didn't think this place was that shabby; the interior is quite pleasant. The entrance lobby could do with brightening uo but there's nothing wrong with the bar areas.

We had the Sunday roast. One beef, one pork. It was perfectly OK. Pre-prepared and reheated, obviously, but we don't expect freshly cooked gourmet food from a chain pub at 7.20 a head. The Nethergate "Azzaparrot" was excellent and the house red didn't strip the lining off my throat. I know better places to get a Sunday lunch in the area, but you'll pay a good deal more. For what it cost, this was fine

Thought I'd drop a quick update about this one as we popped in last week for Sunday lunch. God knows what the "refurbishments" were that led to the pub being closed just before Christmas - inside looks identical. Big space, dark wood durniture and trim leading to the place bordering on the dingy. Some peeling wallpaper and the odd cobweb didn't do much to help either.
Drinks behind the bar looked much the same range as before and the food was above average pub grub. All in all, not too bad, but where was the renovation?
ps: Nearly forgot. The Cock has always had a huge garden and plenty of outside seating, the focal point being some fairly modern kids play equipment. The garden's still there but the equipment has been removed, leaving some ugly looking holes in the ground and some risky looking stumps of wood and metal instead. Ahhh so perhaps THIS is the renovation. Way to go guys!
