Excellent in all aspects. Arrived just in time to see a superb sunset! Small, but well-kept selection of beer. Very good food and all staff were welcoming. Will always return when I am on the Isle of Wight.

Very pleasant pub/restaurant. A good selection of beers and food was extremely pleasant. Very good service. When we visited it was always busy - so is obviously popular.

The Strands Hotel, Nether Wasdale
Extremely pleasant pub with excellent range of beers. Very pleasant surroundings and staff.

The Screes Inn, Nether Wasdale
Spent a week in the Lake District recently. On our travels, we noticed boards up in the area from this establishment advertising "food serve all day". Went for a walk with the family and turned up expecting to be able to eat. We were told that they had stopped serving! Extremely disappointing as some of our group were returning to London that afternoon and needed to eat. Not possible, despite the establishments advertising. Barman was pleasant and somewhat confused as he appeared unaware of the advertising. Management needs to get this sorted. Needless to say, out of principle, we did not stay and gave our custom across the road.

The Wheatsheaf Inn, Lower Woodford
Not really a pub.
Had to be seated before you could order anything - including beer!
The beer eventually arrived approximately 20 minutes after arriving. Waitress was extremely offish when she was asked where our drinks were. Food when oit arrived was good and reasonably priced.
If you are walking in the area, this is not the best place to go to, especially if you have a schedule to keep to.

Visited yesterday and it was a worthwhile experience. Small but good selection of well-kept beer. Food very acceptable and service very quick. Would visit again if I was in the area. Just a shame it is not open all day.

The Bonchurch Inn, Bonchurch
Very welcoming. Arrived late, but were still willing to serve food (if we were quick). Being ravenous, we complied and were rewarded with excellent food. Only Bombardier gravity fed) on offer, but it was delicious. Unfortunately, as I was driving, had to stop with one pint. Would visit again.
