Dark, stone-floored bar. Ten handpumps serving among others Tiny Rebel Juicy, Hawkshead Windermere Pale and Coniston Old Man. Seven keg taps serving Hawkshead/Siren Thresher Spelt IPA, Fierce Tropical Tart and Vocation Oak & Dagger. Juicy, Tropical Tart and Oak & Dagger were all superb. Prices are slightly on the high side. I couldn’t understand why the Hawkshead/Siren collab was £6.60 for two thirds, almost double what I paid at the Hawkshead brewery! Having said that, I paid two visits to this pub in a week and it is a great place for a drink after a day’s walking on the fells.

Favourite in Grasmere - got everything. Great food, beer, entertainment at weekends, the odd wedding, beer garden.

On this visit, it was a wonderful Coniston Old Man Ale at £3.70. Average for these parts.

My last tick of the day on the way back to Keswick and its this guide regular based in the Dale Lodge hotel.

Large imposing building in the centre of the village, the hotel is in a lovely settling with a sprawling lawn to the front as you enter into the bar area.

A whopping 10 hand pumps with 8 ales and 2 real ciders. I went for a bat of 3 ales, my choices being Cumbrian Legendary Ales Cascadian Dark Ale @ 4.5%, Highland Brewery Orkney Best @ 3.6% and the wife had a Perry from Two Trees.

Extremely busy at 7.30pm when we arrived, most of the punters were enjoying the food and it looked very good.

Hundreds of pump clips lining the walls and ceiling beams , I guess all of these ales have been served in this bar.

Tweedies is a cracking place with a real nice atmosphere, quick attentive service from knowledge staff, good range of ales and a great location.

Another great tick for me.

Nice, good food, better than average pub nosh. Wide range of beers, do a paddle, better then getting stuck with a whole pint of something unpleasant.
Don't recommend Fletcher Christian hoppy beer, tasted like it had five tablespoons of salt in it, sure that was one just to keep the bar staff entertained.

Best range of real ales we found in the lakes, spoilt for choice. Legendary Cumbrian Ales, Hawkshead, Barngates and Yates was complimented with a couple of beers from outside the county. Now offering discount for CAMRA members. Also a huge beer garden.
