I love this pub. so many great walks in the surrounding area. great range of ales - up to 7 pumps in use. they even do a beer bat where you can try 3 thirds for £3.45. Ulverston Flying Elephants was our pick! Good food too. Many meals available for £10 which is a lot cheaper than others in the area.

For me though, the best bit is the real fire. Heaven sent when it's freezing outside!!

Several beers to choose from - three Jennings plus four others of which I tried Kirby Lonsdale Stanley's and Hawkshead Bitter. Both were in reasonable condition, but I found it a bit strange that all four of the guest beers were 3.7% or 3.8% in strength - you would expect more variety. Food was ok but nothing special. Staff were friendly and service was good. It filled up quickly on the Friday night that we were there and you need to get there early to get a table if you are eating

My favourite pub of this year's trip to the Lake District. Very good beer, food and service. Car park is too small though!

What agreat pub! Beer and food are fantastic. Yes it can get busy but it is worth waiting for a table and expect someone else to move in as soon as you leave.
Tina, Gary and the rest of the staff are friendly and welcoming. Everyone is very efficient, polite and helpful.
