please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Nice location, shame about the service.

Located on the Basingstoke canal, this pub simply cannot cope with what should have been anticipated levels of service requirements on a Bank holiday day with the sun shining.

An hour and a half wait for a sandwich and the bar staff not able to recognise which customers had been waiting to be served the longest , and stating that it was their choice to serve who they wanted to first.

If you own/run a pub like this where it is clearly an atraction because of the canal and you know the weather is good - then prepare yourself, treat the customers with respect or let someone else run it.

Great pub! I've eaten and drunk here a few times and rate it for decent pub grub and a lovely position by the canal. The current landlord and landlady (very friendly) have been there since May 2010 so I don't think some of the previous comments still apply. They've settled in now so it's worth another trip if you've not been for a while. Still trying to win the pub quiz though!

Really lovely Pub, great location and very relaxed atmosphere with friendly and helpful staff. A little bit of a wait for food but it was a busy bank holiday but the food was fantastic, great quality and value for money. I would highly recommend to pay this pub a visit.

This pub has a fine location, right on the Basingstoke Canal. We didn't spend too much time inside, as the sun was shining. Their garden is tidy and pleasant. We actually did have Sunday lunch. Sounds like the portion sizes have improved since deligirl's visit. I'd rate their food as average, however, and perhaps a bit pricey. Their beer and cider were in top form. I'm sure we'd visit again, especially if we happened to be walking or cycling along that stretch of the Canal.

Don't go for a Sunday lunch if you're hungry. I was given ONE roast potato with my4.99 chicken roast and a tiny anount of vegetables. Pathetic! My partner had TWO with his 8.95 roast beef. We would never go there again. Much better to go to a carvery in the local area.

Visited again a few Saturdays ago on a nice sunny afternoon. Top pub - ten out of ten for atmosphere and location. Also recommend the live music on Friday nights. The management really make an effort - very lively, friendly pub on the canal.

How come addick is slating every other pub in fleet but has high praise for this one. It is a very nice pub but so is many others in the fleet area. This is a poor form of advertising.

Best pub in Fleet. Yes, it might be like an old fashioned boozer but every area needs one. Staff are always friendly and you can talk with friends without the blast of TVs etc.

Teriffic pub! Yes, it is a bit of a locals place, but the locals don't bite! Very friendly atmosphere, excellent and well kept beer, and good food at reasonable prices. My favourite place in Fleet - makes me wish I lived over Church Crookham end rather than Pondtail, then it'd be my local.

"You're not from these parts........." - This pub is a complete locals place, walk in and they'll all stop drinking and look at you! Having said that, the location is fantastic, especially in the summer, and the food and drink is good and reasonably priced.

Excelent pub, excellent food, excellent beers, excellent location, particularly enjoy going there and reminiscing about throwing my shoes in the canal as a young scamp.

Good food, well kept beer and a great place on the canal to enjoy a beer on a warm day.

Friendley and welcoming place with licencee bringing their personal touch to your table. Typical "country" pub barfood at just abouve competative price. Far enough from Fleet to avoid "youth" market, ideal for taking your granny too or a quite date.

Adjacent to the Basingstoke canal and attracts many walkers as a consequence. I would suggest a crawl but the pubs along the canal are too widely spread
