Sister pub to The Cricket @ Beesands... That was good, so would definitely visit next holiday...

Nothing but good things to say about this pub despite an indifferent initial greeting from the barmaid.
Nice pint of Otter to accompany there best mussels I've ever eaten in the UK. all 4 of us enjoyed a good meal, Otter, and Jail.

We stumbled across this pub on a recent visit to south devon.Despite arriving without a reservation on a busy school holiday evening we were sat promptly and without fuss. The food was excellent (the rib eye steak was cooked perfectly as was my wifes scallops) and not over priced. There was a small but good selection of local hand pulled ales and a lovely beer garden. Service was excellent and when i next visit south devon i will definately go back

Visited on a very busy Good Friday lunchtime. booked into the conservatory, very nice setting, table for eight. Lots of choice on menu. Helpful and friendly staff throughout.
Food excellent. Our party had a fair mix of choices from the menu, including sweets. Will definatly visit again.

A lovely little pub in a quiet village in the South Hams. With a Warm atmosphere and good well kept beer. Food is top notch too with a small selection of tasty dishes. Only down side was that all tables where marked as reserved despite not actually being making the welcome a little strange.

this is a horrible little inn the staff were extremely rude to us when we had our meal i found the food a little under standards the chicken was very dry and am not sure why the chef thinks a tea spoon of sauce is a good idea. its a shame i only got offered tomato ketchup when i asked for more sauce not a good experience n we have been coming to devon for over 40 years

The post below must be confused with another "Church House" as the food here is the best you will find in any pub in Britain. Nice beer also.

this is a beautiful country pub in an idyllic setting in a small well kept village a mile from the sea. the garden is very colourful, secluded, and has one or two seperate private areas, and a small play area. the pub itself is full of character with a small bar area ,and restaurant. i dont drink beer as i'm always driving but the beers look lively and well kept - the guinness looks magnificent, probably the best i've seen outside of the emerald isle. there is a wonderfull range of wines both bottle and glass - in fact the choice of wine by the glass is probably the most extensive i have seen, and at a good price - a very good poilly fumee for instance for 17
but the reason why i go to this pub - half a dozen times a year usualy , when i'm weekending in south devon - is the food. all freshly cooked, very original seafood dishes, beautiful steaks, and well served. the staff are attentive and friendly, never kept waiting too long, no rancid fat smells from the kitchen, and all at a very reasonable price. my dog is always welcomed with a seperate water bowl in the area between the restaurant and bar area. the menu is extensive and there are always a dozen or so specials on the blackboard. i just wish this pub was 10 minutes drive from where i live, not where i holiday!
