Mainly a good value eatery but there is a drinking crowd. Food is good value but beer a trifle expensive.
Beer is always well kept with interesting guests.

Had a lovely pint of Castle Rock Elsie Mo here... surrounded by people treating thier brats to lunch. Camra rate this place... it's somewhere that serves good beer but it isn't somewhere beer drinkers feel at home. An eatery to take your offspring to NOT a pub. I suppose a large main road side place like this couldn't survive otherwise. Well that's the usual argument - needs to sell food otherwise it would close down. Would rather the latter meself. How can the CAMRA cronies say this is a good PUB ?

I've become a regular here over the last few months and I have to say it is a great establishment. The staff are friendly, the food is good and the ambience of the place is welcoming, especially in the winter months with the roaring fires.
I'd like to be able to watch football here but then the place would probably not have such a pleasant atmosphere as it would attract different clientele.
Overall, the Chequers is thoroughly recommended.

What a great pub. Excellent beer, excellent food, in a seperate room, great staff and bar billiards. This is everything a pub should be.

Good beer & food, helpful staff, a roaring fire & a pleasant landlady. What more could you need on a cold February evening ?

A really excellent first class pub. Has really changed the face of the village bringing in a good bunch of regulars who regularly get involved in some great and unusual fund raising activities. The beer is always on top form and their beer festivals are always well run and full of good cheer. An excellent friendly pub that really does deserve a mention in the good beer guide, why it was not in this years guide is a real mystery to me. Landlord Nicky and Marion always make folks feel welcome and if you fancy a bite to eat the food is always superb. Top marks! Well worth a visit.

This is a really nice pub. Friendly young landlords and staff. Always a good selection of excellent beers in very good condition. They do top notch food and have a good sized garden area outside for the summer. Regular beer festivals. The bar music is a cut above the standard fare and they have bands on occasionally. Everything about it from the beer to the dcor is a class act. Well worth checking out.
