Skinners Arms, Lawford

I live locally and pop in from time to time. The landscaped garden is a nice place to sit in the summer with some swings and slide for the kiddies. They do food as well, which is cheap and cheerful and I have no complaints about that. it is reasonably priced and you get what you pay for. I will say that it is a nice enough pub, but come the evening it is definitely for the younguns, with a karaoke and live bands on sat. nights. I dont think they serve food in the evening, its just lunchtime grub, but nice enough. The landlord is friendly when he is about, lovely chap. staff are nice, not overly friendly, but very efficient.

The Crown Hotel, Manningtree

went to this pub about a month ago. drinks are quite expensive! Staff are unfriendly and unfortunately on top of that had to complain about the food. It was tasteless and just slopped on the plate and it wasnt even very busy. I live locally and heard not great things about it, but thought i would give it a go as I hadnt been there in quite a while. I wish i had not bothered. What a shame, I feel it really lets Manningtree down. On a good note,the only one I feel, are the views from the pub garden.
