The Phoenix, Watergate Bay

At first viewing this looks like any other surfer pub. A second glance seems to confirm this status. Go upstairs though and you'll find wonderful views over the bay and ..... the best food we've experienced in a restaurant let alone a pub. Now, I'm not saying surfers don't like good food - but this really took us by surprise. I would even consider the six and a half hour journey there for another fabulous steak, or the amazing scallops and sea bass, light as a feather duck wontons...I'm salivating at the thought! Get there quick before this wonderful young chef is poached (no pun intended) by a top restaurant. By the way, the toilets were spotless and the staff a pleasure. Stop reading now and get in the car!!!
