First time back here after a 2 year break, Food ok but a bit pricey, beer also ok again a bit pricey but average for the area. N.Barber2 - 2 Jul 2011 21:58 |
the fish and chips were great and the doombar was in good nick, it's more lick a sufers shack than a pub, perfectly understandable in Watergate bay, with a large terrace overlooking the ocean, I prefer the more traditional type of place but I would definately use it again vinnnie - 18 Aug 2009 12:15 |
Been going to Watergate for the past 4 years. The phoenix has always been a regular haunt.Good beer (local) and the food is good although not as good as last year and the menu has shrunk considerably,I'llput it down to the fact we went a bit earlier this year. Staff ok but could cheer up a bit and a tip for the young man behind the bar, don't stop mid-way through pouring the pint of the punter who has just spent 30 on food etc just to see to the young bit of totty asking about the internet connection!! Not good customer service! N.Barber2 - 12 Jul 2009 19:35 |
Good pint of St.Austell Tribute, reasonable prices, and friendly bar staff, make this a pleasant place to while away a few hours. The view out to sea from the upstairs bar is pretty good aswell - even on October evenings! Apart from the nearby Beach Hut (which is mainly set up for food), and the bar of the Watergate Bay Hotel (pricey, and obviously not a pub), this is the only place to get a pint on the bay itself. Not really a problem though if you are staying within staggering distance. CountryBoy - 19 Oct 2008 19:23 |
Went on a girlie weekend to Watergate in June and spent a lot of time here. Really chilled out place. But above all it has amazing food, didn't think this was possible in Cornwall (sorry if this offends any locals!). And a great looking head chef as well who all the girls in my party really fancied!! Think he was called Simon? Check him out...ohh and his food. lollylully - 9 Jul 2008 15:38 |
