The Burtle Inn, Burtle

I don't understand the previous reviews - they must have been about a previous ownership. I've just come back from my 30th birthday party in the area after seeing the starling phenomenon. The Burtle looked after 15 of us for two lunches and a big dinner, and were absolutely wonderful. They really looked after us, and were loads of fun.

I don't understand the previous price comment. Ok the prices were relatively high, but that's just because the quality is really high? And we got exactly what we expected! So the food was really good value - wonderfully large portions of some really good hearty flavours - perfect for the pretty bitter starling weather, and there were some good deals. And the cheaper bar snacks were top notch too.

The decor was everything I want from a pub - log fires, flagstone floors, candles, rustic furniture. None of the posh rubbish - but then I'm biased I like the school - the way it feels like it always was.

I don't often give things a 10, but these guys looked after us so well (Billy especially) I find myself reaching for an 11. I realise I sound like a phony commenteer in saying that, but I don't care. We all had a superb time, and I think it would be a real shame if the previous comments put anyone off. This place is great! Thanks guys!!
