The Compass Tavern, Bridgwater

Over priced mediocre food with an incredibly slow service time. Spent half an hour waiting for a daily special. Bar staff seemed very moody, and un willing to engage in polite conversation with customers. Landlord drunk and abusive at the end of the bar, swearing loudly infront of young families. Quite a dirty environment, we sat down at an unclean table, and when the cutlery was delivered, my girlfriend was given a dirty knife. When i went to speak to the landlady about these issues, she got very aggitated and told us 'If you don't like it, go somewhere else', so we did. Would not recommend to anybody.

The Plough Inn, Holford

The pub is under new management, very friendly and sociable. Inside is redecorated to give it a fresher, cleaner look. Very good food, supplemented by well kept real ale, all at an affordable price. Family friendly spacious beer garden that will be very nice in the summer. The views to the Quantock hills are very spectacular, and the pub is located in the vacinity of a lot of lovely walks and cycle routes. Would certainly recommend to any friends or peers up here in the midlands if in the area. Looking forward to going again in the near future.
