The Basketmakers Arms, Brighton

The only possible criticism is it is too popular and you can't always get a seat. Beats shopping in the North Laines anyway. The only veggie burger better is at it's sister pub The Prestonville. Gales beers never tasted better.

The Bricklayers Arms, Luton

Handy location, the "wrong" side of the station. An island of sanity in the branded leisure gear desert of central Luton pubbery. The Salem porter was particularly bewitching.

The Black Horse, Luton

Cosy one room CAMRA heaven. Hidden behind the Regent
Street multi storey. Music to suit the clientele.Vast beer selection well kept.They even had Sarah Hughes Dark Ruby Porter on draught the evening we were there. Very friendly owner who loves his beer and seems to know what he is keeping. Does anyone know the names of his other pubs? They would be all worth a visit. Well worth the train fare from Sussex.
