Napoleon Inn, Boscastle

An excellent find � set out of the main village and tucked away behind a restaurant this pub is full of character and while clearly popular with the locals there is also a warm and friendly welcome for the tourist. Friendly cheerful bar staff, good food with fast service, and an excellent selection of real ales served straight from the barrel behind the bar make this a place well worth searching out.

The Ridley Arms, Stannington

We visited this pub whilst on holiday in the area and my girlfriend chose the lamb from the menu. It was very disappointing being tough and grisly and not enjoyable. What was even more disappointing was the total apathy of the serving staff when this was pointed out to them. After it became clear that no one was going to approach us to offer an apology or explanation we decided to forgo any desert or another drink and left. All food has to be paid for at the bar when ordered � so you don�t even have a chance to complain to someone when settling the bill or to refuse to pay for sub standard food. We gave the place a wide berth for the rest of the stay and found better eating establishments in he area.
