The Castle At Donnington, Donnington

Food must have improved a lot. We had a party of 8 in there last night, and apart from a chewy steak everyone was happy. Couple of decent ales. The only problem was it was so quiet, we were the only ones there from 6 until 7.30 when a few more people arrived. Hopefully this will get better as word gets around because it seems like a decent pub.

The Lock Stock and Barrel, Newbury

Superb location overlooking Newbury lock and St Nick's church, with plenty of seating outside and on the roof. Beer is always good but pricey and plenty to choose from, but service can be slow, and food is at best ok.

The Lion, Newbury

The landlord (Pete & Sharon) have turned this place around. Good selection of well kept ales and lager. Good pub grub. Plenty of flat screens for sport. Pool table. Decent crowds in there most nights, although mostly blokes.
