The Flying Horse, Boughton Lees
I absolutely agree with everything Sir Jack says. This is our very valued local that we had to sadly watch, be run into the ground in the last couple of years. A superb pub was left to go to ruin until Michaela and Stuart took over about a year ago...and they are doing a fab job! They have turned the food around...at one point, you couldn't even eat a sandwich there with any confidence, now, Jonathan, a storming little chef, produces plate after plate of excellent food. The new landlords are doing special food nights in the new restaurant upstairs..which has a great atmosphere...and so far, everyone has been very impressed. With quiz nights, music nights and just brilliant hosting skills, Michaela and Stuart have turned the place around in record time. Once again, walkers are dropping in, the locals pack the place out and people eat there all the time...Friday night is a must...a great atmosphere and Stuart and Michaela make it feel like a real house party, even if you aren't a local, they offer a great welcome to all. They are brilliant with walkers and tourists who make a bee line for the place again. (check out the 'take aways', curry nights and chillis...top drawer quality...top drawer price!)You really could not ask for 2 better landlords and a top drawer team making every effort to keep one of the most beautiful pubs in the UK open and doing a roaring trade. They deserve a big pat on the back for their efforts and in a world where there are many pubs closing every week, the whole team, including Laura and Claire are a credit to the industry. I am thrilled to have my local back and to see old chums in there once again. Drop in, have a beer or a glass of wine and a great meal..you'll be glad you did...and the locals are really friendly too! Well done Stuart & Michaela...you deserve the success!
