Black Horse, Pluckley

Visited the Black Horse today and could not belive how below standard not only the food was but the service.
My partner ordered a prawn cocktail, which came to our table with little Marie Rose sauce, WHITE thin sliced Tesco value bread and an excuse for a wedge of lemon. I ordered crab with avocado which was presented much the same, very average indeed for over six pounds each! We then were presented with our mains, i had the off the bone ham salad, old brown salad leaves, hard new boiled potatoes, hard boiled egg which was grey around the yoke and a splodge of coleslaw, just all horrible, the ham was insipid and plated up in a slap dash manner. My partners roast beef was ropey too, roast potatoes were old and tasted like they had been warmed through, not cooked fresh!
DO NOT EAT AT THIS PUB... its just disgraceful, the chef is obviously not passionate about his work and couldnt give a damn if the people that are paying his wages walk away happy or not. On this occasion i would say do give up your day job!!!

The Horseshoes, East Farleigh

Visited last night with friends, lovely first impressions and wasnt disappointed when we walked in, although the barman was a little vacant regarding wines etc, but we were shown to a table in a professional, friendly manner and thought the place had a welcoming atmosphere, lovely decor and beautiful location.
Food was on par with my expectation, started with the mushrooms, with spinach on ciabatta, very full flavoured and above all hot! Not so impressed with the main, which was from the specials board, linguini with mussels and crab, the salmon and the red pepper slices were two flavours too many and the mussels were very small but in their defence flavourful. I wasnt sure about the sauce, corriander may of been a wrong herb, flat leaf parsley may of been a better choice.
Pudding was fresh strawberries and cream, very little flavour, and straight from the fridge, please bring these fruits upto room temperature!
Great place and decor beautiful, other plates of food going out looked very nice and i shall certainly be visiting again soon.
