The Blue Bell Inn, Kidsgrove

A truely excellent real-ale pub. Very small but unparalleled selection of real-ales and strong lagers. There are new beers appearing almost every night of the week - a chalk board records the beers that have guested there - the figure is in the 1000's! No smoking, sky, TV or jukebox - great!; quiet and friendly crowd. First class beer, very well looked after by people who clearly take a pride in what they do - shame it's 2 miles from where I live hoever I can't really think of a valid reason to mark it less than 10.

The Yeoman, Alsager

A temporary local after the Mere was ruined but frankly the real ale and choice of real ale is very poor - lucky if you get 1 decent beer otherwise it's Tetleys or Bass(I think!). They used to have Directors on regulalry bit that's topped a while ago. Friendly staff, regulars seem okay too, no problems, rarely packed or noisy. Generally okay but let down, for me anyway, by the real ale. There seems to be nowhere in Alsager where you can find half decent real ale on a regular basis (other than walking a mile out of the town ino tthe back of beyond to the Horseshoe)

The Mere Inn, Alsager

Agreed - used to go every week (for the past 5 years.) Takeover has completely ruined what used to be a nice local - horrible place.
