Adore this pub. Great food, and great value with different offers on each night of the week, e.g. Ruby Tuesday = Thai curry and a Tiger beer/glass of wine for �6! Smart interior and lovely bar staff.

The Swan, Pangbourne

Really don't know why we came back here - last time I was here I ordered a Ploughmans, and when I complained that there was mould on the Red Leicester, the waitress argued with me telling me that RL was supposed to be like that!

Anyway, this visit reaffirmed that they are still serving up the same old overpriced meals of sub-standard quality. Chips are grim. Glasses are dirty. Service is sloooooooooow. Utterly disappointing as the location is so lovely. Really really needs to pull its socks up and stop ripping off its customers.

The Highwayman, Checkendon

Had an absolutely superb Sunday lunch here today - roast pork was divine, and my partner's beef was apparently also excellent. We ordered bread & butter pudding with ginger cream for pudding which my OH initially turned his nose up, but when it arrived, he was soon eating his words (and my pudding - boom boom...). 2 courses was �14.95, and 3 �19.95 I think, which is good VFM in my book.

Will definitely be back.
