Fortescue Arms, East Allington
The Fortescue Arms is now under new ownership since 27/05/2011. I would like to think that Arctium lappa if passing through again would like to re visit the Fortescue again and find that the staff are really friendly and helpful. As the new owner please make yourself known and maybe I will buy you a pint! Only given us 9/10 as we still have a few new things to do.

The Waterman's Arms, Ashprington
I visited this pub about a month ago and the beer was awful. I see from other comments that Palmers didn't go down well, it's not the Palmers Beer it is someone running a pub who doesn't know how to look after real ale. I returned to the watermans last Saturday as I thought maybe they had been quiet and there had not been enough custom to keep the beer moving. Things were worse, one poor fellow couldn't even see through his glass as it resembled liquid mud. The two chaps I was with took their beer back as it was tasting musty and the bar manager changed the barrel, the second pint was a little better but not alot. My Friends then decided to give it another go and instead of having the IPA they thought they would try the Dorset Gold, Cloudy, and the copper was the same. The staff were all over the place and not one sign of the owners to help with this dilema. Please do not condemn Palmers beer, when looked after and presented properly it is great. Try the Sea Trout the other side of Totnes, maybe not so Idilyc a setting but a really good pint of Palmers beer. The Watermans has everything a pub could wish for but I don't think I will be going again with friends until the owners take what they do a little more seriously. It seems to me that they are relying on where it is rather than putting any effort in. I have given it a 3 rating purely for where it is.
