An excellent pub/cider house- always friendly staff and customers, an excellent array of draft and bottled ciders and the beer is pretty good too (and all reasonably priced). Well worth a visit!

The Scotchman and His Pack, Bristol

Almost always really quiet and I can't see why? Very friendly staff and landlord, reasonable beer, good pool table and a balcony for the summer. It doesn't have Sky Sports at the moment (presumably because it is quiet), but anything on terrestrial is shown on the widescreen and they have a few others dotted about the pub. The only downside is that it is at the bottom of a massive hill, otherwise brilliant and constantly underrated.

Baroque, Bristol

This has now changed to 'Illusions', which has turned a pretty mediocre pub into something brilliant. They have live magic there in the evenings, showcasing amatuers and professionals alike. I've seen some pretty remarkable stuff in there, it's still free to get in and free to watch the show (although you might have to peer over people's shoulders as its understandably popular). They also have a baby grand piano in the corner with a string of reasonably talented people operating it.

There really is no other place like this in Bristol.
