The Mad Hatter Hotel, Southwark
I cannot recommend this place highly enough. The ESB is superb, the menu's varied in quality but the pie's are lovely. It's usually quiet - shame about the footie on the telly, air-conditioned and the staff are so friendly. My favorite pub in the area because the Doggets is so noisy / busy

Sidcup's crying out for a decent pub and this isn't it. The place is dreadful. The bar staff are friendly, at least the female one's are. The manageress, Carla (yes she warrants having her name mentioned), is without doubt the rudest, most surly and un-professional bar manager I have ever encountered. The real ales are seldom on. The dcor is atrocious. The toilets are a health risk - they've only recently put doors on the cubicles - that should give you the measure of the place! The food is horrible. The tables are sticky. There is nothing to recommend this place at all. Go to the portrait unless it's Friday or Saturday night or the footie's on.

The Tigers Head, Chislehurst
Went there for Sunday lunch yesterday. First time my mother & girlfriend had met, so wanted a pleasant atmosphere. We all had a wonderful time. Arrived at two and managed to get a table for four straight away. Be warned they don't take reservations, but was reasonably quiet by 2. Service was exceptional and I'm really hard to please. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the food, beer & wine and charm personified. The specials menu was extensive, mainly fish based but a great deal of choice from standard menu. Food wonderful, I recommend the Lobster. The Speckled Hen was very well kept. We'll all be going back.
