The Jolly Farmer, Hurst

New to the area I took a trip to the Jolly Farmer on fireworks night at by the sounds of barely literate anonymous 12 below we were in completely different pubs. I was very impressed by the warm and friendly atmosphere of the jolly farmer and was really surprised to hear that the landlady had only recently taken over the pub. She along with her 'sober' team organised the fireworks display, parking, barbecue etc extremely well which is no small undertaking. I've been in since and I think the Jolly Farmer is a little gem in the making. The landlady really knows her stuff, the beer is improving at a rate of knots, clientele has improved (even from just a week ago) which is appreciated by both newcomers and locals alike. She has listened to her 'valued' locals and has some exciting plans in place. I think she's what you might call a 'responsible' landlady who won't sacrifice the atmosphere and culture of the pub by allowing irresponsible drinking or indeed parenting in her pub.
