The Ship, Cobham

Never Again! This used to be a great pub where we enjoyed many meals whilst visiting the area over the last 20 years. Alas it is no longer the quality pub we enjoyed. Having contacted the pub to book a month in advance (as it used to be very busy) I had to ring back the following day to speak to someone who could take a booking. Having contacted the pub 5 times by telephone and posted the order to them with a deposit we arrived for lunch to be told we did not have a booking. They did later find the booking and deposit in the office. Incompetent management.

The meal from the Christmas menu was extremely basic and uninspiring. The waitress also succeeded in knocking a drink off the table and into one of our laps.

I am surprised to see that the pub was allegedly fully refurbished as most of it has changed little including the Gents with it's 1940's fittings and 1970's tiles. Should you need it you will find the toilet seat on the floor next to the bowl. Happy dining!
