I feel that a special mention is needed for Tim behind the Bar most nights! A cracking bloke who makes a cracking Bloody Mary and who also makes our regular Gowlett visits a real pleasure!
Thanks mate!

Love love love this pub, and have already mentioned this on the site. I dont find the change thing on a plate offensive as I used to work behind the bar myself and understand the logic behind it. Find it slightly depressing when people complain that Lordship Lane is declining down a gastro route and ruining the old pubs. Lordship Lane is flourishing, and if you dont like it, move somewhere else! The Forresters was a hole that nobody with any pub taste went to. It was filthy dirty and the food was frozen shite. The manager of this place always reminds me of my old boss when i worked in a pub back home in Lancaster; always thinking, good to his staff and attentive to customers, putting them first. This old boss of mine has only just retired after 20 years in the business and the pub has been taken over to match his style exactly, changing nothing. May The Bishop prosper...tis by far the best! Have to admit the day time creche is a bit annoying...but then maybe I should be at work and not in the pub in the day time...so my fault! ;)

As a new Mum, I discovered this pub courtesy of the mother and baby group which takes place there every friday. And Ive been back again and again since. Its a cracker. The staff are amongst the best Ive ever known a pub to have. Each and every one of them has a good sense of humour and a courteous manner. The beer and wine selection is also good. My only criticism would be the food. We were served very over cooked wedges, but when complained these were replaced quickly and without a fuss. My mates soup was also a bit runny. And when you advertise a ham sandwich you dont expect it to be over cooked ham off the bone...
Aside from that this is the best pub in the area at the moment. Specially if you have kids. Your made to feel really welcome rather than endured like most of the other pubs in the area.
