The Plough at Langford, Langford

I have to reply to the comment made by oxbow.daddy on Nov 12 as I totally disagree that the pub is run by a family with ""the biggest pocket!!" I can absolutely assure you that this is not the case at all!! Gill has worked so hard over the past months to bring The Plough into the 21st century - she has worked tireslessly, often from the start of the day to closing time. She has 'ploughed' (sorry- pun intended) her efforts, care and commitment into this pub and she certainly has NOT got endless supplies of money. Indeed it is totally the opposite - she has put in every penny to a venture that she wanted so badly that she cannot afford to even run a car!! Gill and her family were running the pub some years ago and, unfortunately, they lost control to another set of managers. The Moulden family then worked so hard and made such amazing sacrifices that they have my unswerving respect and admiration for their efforts. Perhaps if oxbow.daddy was aware of the circumstances surrounding their mammoth determination to get their pub to the present high standard then he would be commenting on a more positive note. Obviously, for 'a village where everyone seems to know everyone else's business' (your quote I think) you are obviously blissfully unaware of their momentous hard work for the past year. Not, I repeat, made possible by an endless amount of cash but an endless amount of grit and hard work! So come along and support one of your local pubs who have recently been nominated for the Chronicle Pub of the Year!!! Perhaps the readers of this local paper know a thing or two?????

The Plough at Langford, Langford

The Plough is an extremely friendly, community pub where you are greeted to a welcome worthy of an episode of 'Cheers' I understand that someone else out there had a different, and quite negative, opinion but Ihave to say that in our view we have always been to be made to feel at ease. Their food is excellent and the only pub in the area where I could have happily eaten my way through the entire menu! They have beautiful grounds, a child friendly play area, a petanque piste, and a lovely sheltered patio area to enjoy our sweltering summer weather!!!! I suggest that you come along and enjoy this pub and the company of warm, professional staff. Bring a smile with you and you will see it returned ten-fold. We have lived in many different places in the past but for the last 12 years we have been proud to call it our 'local' and we are sure it will remain so for many years to come.
