The Duck On The Pond, South Newington

I just called this pub to make a reservation for this coming Saturday..10 adults + 5 children...was told 6pm would be fine as children have to be off the premises by 8 - 8:30pm!!
What a joke! I find this is pure discrimination against people with children....fyi Mr and Mrs landlady of this pub, children are not pests, they are human beings and I find your policy petty and pathetic!
I have driven past your pub on the way to work everyday for the past 2 years and have always thought it looks nice and welcoming, so thought would give it a try...after this, will not set foot there ever!
Another thing, I was under the impression that the pub trade is tough at the moment....obviously, you must be doing well if you can afford to pass on a group of 15 people!

George And Dragon, Chacombe

Last Sunday, (28th November), we went for a Sunday meal to this pub. We took our 2 children, one is 4 and the other is 15 months. It turned out to be a complete night mare! Our 15 month son, like any other child of that age was making a bit of a noise and screaming a little and after a while, one of the waitresses came through and said, "Can you keep the noise down"! She said it in a very rude way as though we had to turn the TV or radio down.....unfortunately children do not have a volume button. I was completely disgusted and promptly complained to the bar manager who just palmed me off...in a nutshell, we were paying customers and were made to feel like criminals just because some idiot probably made a comment to the staff there. As we were made to feel so uncomfortable, we even left without taking desert or coffee. It makes me sick when places say that they are child friendly and then they turn out to be completely intolerant. To conclude, we will not be going back!
