Queen's Hotel, Ambleside

The powers that be, ie pub management, have seen fit to remove my scathing review of this establishment. This leads me to believe they have a guilty conscience. I maintain that it is a poorly run establishment with iffy standards, dodgy food, no chance of a coffee other than bog standard. The loos are cold and dirty and one family walekd out over the door quality if the obviously microwaved food on our last visit. Golden Rule is the only proper pub in Ambleside.

The Griffin Hotel, Heaton Mersey

This pub is now presided over by an officious and obnoxious landlord who is doing his best to drive away traditional drinkers. If you choose not to eat their cook/chill or frozen foods then your custom is not welcome.
Holt's have completely lost the plot here and cannot, if recent reports are true, be making any profit whatsoever. People are now drinking in other pubs in the area and moaning to anyone who will listen about the staff attitude. Amongst the few longer serving members of staff, the morale is rock-bottom. Why was this manager appointed? He totally abused the menu recently by ordering far too much food for him and his family, presumably at Holt's expense. The future does not augur well in the short term.
