Its reputation stands before it. Every I know has heard of Nellies, even if they aren't a local. I could easily lose myself in there, not only because of its rooms and corridors (circa, Alice in Wonderland), but because it is very warm and friendly place. You can't grumble at the prices. God bless Sam Smith.
PS - what is up with the urinal's? I never pick a place to drink based on the condition of the troughs.

Our local. It has a very traditional feel to it, opening hours aside (from 5pm on a week night and 12 noon on a weekend) with its oak beems, rustic decor and great cask ales (Jennings). But don't go there to watch live sport (unless darts counts?). There is live music though. Well, a resident folk guitarist.

The Cornerhouse, Beverley
I would need to re-visit this place before my impression is lifted, and first impressions count for a lot. It was very busy, and that was on a Friday evening. Perhaps the current economic situation had impacted on the footfall, but even though, I am of the belief that Beverley is a place insulated from the current economic meltdown.
The bar staff were polite and the prices were not too inflated. Maybe it needs a few more people in there to recreate the 'buzz' that everyone else is making a reference too.
