Hugely eccentric and historic gas lit Samuel Smith's pub. A pub interior of national significance, with a baffling warren of rooms, that is not to be missed. The Old Brewery Bitter is fairly standard but with an orangey woody note from the traditional wooden casks. richythemole - 4 Feb 2018 14:54 |
After the Dog & Duck (not listed on here, although its picture is!), I moved onto the highlight of my Beverley trip. The White Horse is a Sam Smiths pub. So you know what you're getting in terms of the beer. Old Brewery Bitter is on handpull. But it's the fabulous historic interior, lit entirely with gaslamps that it the real draw. It truly is like stepping back in time. There are lots of small rooms, with tables aplenty. I had a room to myself on a Saturday evening. Drinks were a little pricy though, especially soft drinks. Don't come here expecting good beer. But do come to marvel at the inside. blue_scrumpy - 8 Aug 2016 21:31 |
OBB still £1.80. Great atmospheric pub still lit by gas and candles. Endless warren of dark and welcoming rooms. I will not repeat what others have said. Just visit and see for yourself. rpf1955 - 2 Aug 2016 11:36 |
A great place to visit. Like stepping back 50 years. OBB excellent value. New toilets and pool room don't distract from the overall impression Rocky53 - 20 Jul 2015 19:53 |
Nellie's was in fine form when I went in on Sunday 11th of November. Old brewery was spot on and the place was very busy. Hollow.legs - 14 Nov 2012 19:07 |
