The Durham Ox, Shrewley

We met a group of friends for lunch at this pub yesterday and it was extremely disappointing. The menu had just one main course vegetarian option and when a vegetarian member of our party asked if there were other options, she was advised that there were not. The food is very over priced, as is the wine. We sat outside and the covered eating area was shabby with permanent drips dripping on to us from the hard plastic roof covering as we ate. The service was mixed but largely poor, with several mistakes made in taking and delivering our orders. We thought the saving grace might be the bouncy castle on site for the children but this turned out to be unuseable as it was swimming in rain water and covered in leaf and branch droppings from the overhanging trees. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone and we certainly won't be returning.

The Cock Inn, Ringmer

We enjoyed a superb family meal at this pub recently. The menu is extensive, with something for all tastes and the waiting slaff were attentive and welcoming. I found the bar staff to be friendly and relaxed- just what you want in a family-run pub like this. Definitely worth a visit.
