The Kings Head, Shrewsbury
Firstly, the photo is wrong ! This is the prettiest old Pub in all of Britain (really). It was originally the local Bishop's residence.
Secondly, no commenter thus far has even been there, or they would have mentioned the ancient painting of The Last Supper on an interior wall.
Thirdly, it has the most curteous proprietor (a lady of Czech origins) and easily the best food in the area.
Fourthly, it is the pub of choice for the local Regiment (no lager louts in here).
I am a 60 something Aussie, who recently toured SE Britain with my wife and and sister-in Law. We ate almost exclusively in old pubs. This one topped our list, and they insisted we go back there most days we were in the area. If you like old Pubs, you are an idiot to miss this one.
