The Flying Horse, Boughton Lees
55 Red Cross ' Home fro Hospital' volunteers from the area were given a 'thank you' Christmas buffet lunch here for the work that they do by the Red Cross. We were crammed into a tiny room at the back of the pub. The food was a disgrace bought in sausages rolls, Pizza, spring rolls, and chicken gougons, sandwiches were cheese and pickle, ham and mustard, or Tuna. It was served with tea or coffee later water and orange juice were produced. There was not a lot of food and I gather it cost 8.50 a head with an extra charge made for the cold drinks of 25 You would have thought the pub might have pushed the boat out to encourage us to return again all it did was leave a very disappointed group of volunteers and staff who are unlikely to ever return to the pub again.
