The Racehorse, Catworth

Under old management, the Racehorse was brilliant. Great food, pleasant service, and reasonable prices. The lunch buffet was one of the best meals in the area for quick but delicious pub fare.

Since June 2010 the new management re-made the Racehorse as a pretentious, over-priced "Euro-pub" with lackluster food. Case in point: today we had a farewell luncheon for some friends; my lunch of bangers and mash was horrible. The sausage was undercooked (the inner portion of the Cumberland sausage roll being just slightly better than raw), and the mashed potatoes were lumpy, cold and hardly edible. Not once did the waitress come by to ask how the meal was (to any of us). Other customers around me commented that their meals were "adequate" and "not exciting" and "not worth the money".

If this was the first time I had eaten a poor meal here, I wouldn't post this online. But it seems to be a pattern, hence, take your chances... past meals have included fish and chips (so-so), roulade of chicken studded with chorizo (tasteless), and marinated lemon chicken skewers (I'd rather go to a curry shop).
