The Queens Head does seem to be a lot busier since it has changed ownership and had a lick of paint. However this appears to be due to the fact that the new management will serve anyone! The language coming from the bar was shocking as was the racism which I heard being spouted by what appeared to be a group of regulars at the bar (at as very loud volume!!) Listening to some of the chat and the general atmosphere makes me believe that this pub has become popular with the traveller community.
Only stayed for one pint (my girlfriend left her drink and just wantd to go to the Black Jug for some civil company) Can't comment on food as we were a bit to intimidated to stay.

Did they run out of money on the refurb? Very sparce furniture wise and that which has been purchased seems domestic (from cargo or similar) rather than suitable for large volume usage...................so expect to see it replaced pretty soon. Standard Hall and Woodhouse beers (Bland bitters, ok cider and lagers)
Food looked pricey and trying too hard. Its a pub not a gastro pub........good home cooked locally sourced pub food is a rarity and it neednt be...........get the basics right and people will eat.

The Black Horse, Climping
Reading these reviews it is obvious someone has a bet of a vendetta against this pub. That can be the only reason I can think that anyone wouldn't love it!
Visited yesterday and just had to leave a review.
Superb food (the T-bone steak was ridiculously good!) and when my friends mixed grill arrived there was hardly room on the table! The quality of the meat was excellent (I am a retired chef by the way) and all was very well cooked.
The staff were very friendly, drinks were fine (I am a cider drinker and my friend a lager drinker-cant really mess those up- so can't comment on ales) Really friendly crowd-PROPER ROARING FIRES!!! Food is not cheap but quality meant it was very good value for money. Will make the effort to visit again and hopefully get snowed in!! (Do they get snow in that area?) Ignore the spiteful reviews and make up your own mind. P.S What a great location too!!
