Hop and Vine, Hull

Stayed in Hull, visited Hop & Vine twice, wasn't impressed.

For starters, *when* it is open, they tend to open late, or at least did on my first visit. Then once I was let in, there were problems pulling my ale. Eventually, I enjoyed something called Holderness Mild. Although I left soon after as there was/is an awkward atmosphere.

On my second visit, the girl behind the bar told me they had ran out of everything I asked for and couldn't change it. I left, unhappy. Shoddy.

There are much better places to visit when in Hull, and from what I can see, places that are much more worthy winners of awards such as 'pub of the year'. Incidentally, it turns out that the guy that runs it is high up in the local branch of camra - who'd have thunk it?! A fix? i think so.
