The George & Dragon, Westerham
Unfortunately, our double birthday celebration turned out to be rather less than celebratory. The service was slow and begrudging, we didn't have a particular waiter/waitress, we had to keep asking someone as they went past, and we didn't see a smile in all the three hours we were there. Some of the food was good, the roast dinner, but the other meals were a little less than memorable. Two of the meals were brought out, but ten minutes later we had to ask for our vegetables. We were told that she would see whether we got vegetables with our meal, which the menu clearly stated that we did, so the main meal was cold before the vegetables came. Our dirty dinner plates were left in front of us for at least fifteen minutes before we were finally asked whether we had finished, and would we like them removed. It is particularly annoying because, when I booked, I was told that there was a large party arriving at one o'clock, so I booked for two o'clock, thinking that the large party would have ordered by then. When we arrived at one fifty, the large party had just arrived so our average serving time was twenty five minutes. Two of our party had to leave before dessert as they had to pick someone up, so a dessert had to be cancelled. When the manager was told this, he grunted and walked off - a real incentive to return. All in all, a thoroughly unpleasant experience, there will be no recommendation to others and we will absolutely not return. On a more serious note, it was noted that it would not be possible for a wheelchair user, or someone with a mobility handicap, to use this pub.
