The Roebuck Inn, Wickham

I think it's a little odd that these last couple of reviews have been written by someone who has reviewed only The Roebuck and all roughly around the same time. I've told the landlord and he's going to get in touch with the Chamber of Trade and Commerce who say they will check the IP address and email addresses and will take the appropriate action if there is a connection. It looks like this pub is the subject of a hate campaign and I would urge anybody to take with a pinch of salt any negative reviews they see until they have at least tried the place themselves. Such a shame.......

The Roebuck Inn, Wickham

Took my family to The Roebuck for lunch on New Year's Day. WONDERFUL. I have to admit to being a little worried after reading the previous review, but I was more than pleasantly surprised. I think the last reviewer must have either gone somewhere else, been rude themselves (this seems the most likely), or is a local competitor. We were welcomed most heartily at the entrance and shown to our table. The drinks were fairly average in price, nothing particularly expensive and the London Pride was perfect. The food was out of this world. I'm getting hungry now just thinking about it. Perfectly cooked steaks - 4 on our table all cooked differently. Homemade pies the best I've ever seen and the sweets were a triumph. Very attentive and friendly service - and we were not "known" but this didn't seem to matter as we were all very well looked after. I often use sites such as this to decide where to go out to dine but I've learnt not to take too seriously a clearly "nasty" review. I think I'm right in saying that The Roebuck is privately owned, as opposed to a chain, and as those type of places are very few and far between these days it is such a shame that some people are intent on seeing them fail. Support the small guys, I say. I hope that after reading my epic you'll at least give them a try - I did and I'm so pleased I did. We'll be going back......SOON
