Staying local so popped in here for Sunday lunch with friends. Outside it looks promising enough but interior drab 70's look. IPA was a bit flat but acceptable. Owner very helpful, offered us a taste of wines before ordering. Sunday roasts (lamb, pork) were acceptable, good portions but a bit overcooked for our liking. Overall OK but wouldn't recommend.

Took a chance on Jubilee Saturday at 1pm, as car park was full thought we'd have to queue for drink & wait a long time for food. We were pleasantly surprised - service was excellent, staff cheerful, badger was really good, had full meal for four - came within 1/2 hour - good quality and portions. Sun was out - lovely views by river to Arundel Castle - perfect!

Returning back to London from Sussex on Jubilee Tuesday trying to find a pub that wasn't doing a B-B-Q (in the rain !!) was proving hard. Saw the pub sign on side of road (A29) as it was nearly 2pm we gave it a try.Looked good - oldeworld in &out. . Owner / staff very friendly, had a tasty Badger Best. Good range of food (not too much choice) - a good chunk of steak & kidney pie, roast pork, beer battered fish. Veg. passable (why is it so hard to find pubs that can cook veg properly ??). Service was quick - though pub was only 1/2 full. Overall - worth stopping off if in area.
