The Palatine, Morecambe

Called in here last Sunday lunchtime. Good little pub with very friendly and helpful staff. Several real beers from the Lancaster Brewery and (i think) four guest beers. Started with a pint of Lancaster Blonde which was disappointing. It had an end of barrel taste and, lo' and behold when I went back to the bar it had been taken off. Subsequently tried Thwaites Albert Wainwright and the Lancaster Blonde again, once it had gone back on, both of which were excellent. From upstairs there are nice views across the bay. Can't comment too much on the food as we only had pizza and chips (which were very nice though). Amongst our little group the general consensus was that this is a top little pub!

Railway Hotel, Wadsley Bridge

Now re-opened. Called in on Saturday afternoon before the match. Place was busy but not packed. The four behind the bar were making a good fist of serving everyone in good time. Four real beers on. Two from the local Bradfield Brewery (my Farmers Blonde was excellent at �2:20) and two from Thwaites (but this is not a Thwaites pub by the way). Beer list on the wall suggests that they have many other beers which are on rotation. Atmosphere, cleanliness and beer all seem much better that before it closed. Only problem is that we have so many good pubs in Sheffield and I've only got one liver!

The Blackwater Stream, Broadstone

I always want to dislike Wetherspoon pubs. I dislike the big corporate thing. However, they do what they do so very well. Spent a weekend in Broadstone a couple of weeks ago. Saturday night in the Blackwater Stream was busy but we managed to get a table. The staff were pleasant. The food was very good and excellent value for money and the beer was spot on. Can't find anything to complain about unfortunately.
