The Spittal Brook, Stafford

Just moved into the area and checked BITE and thought this might be a good candidate for my local.

After getting the general impression that it was an awful lot of trouble for them bother to serve me a pint and a half I was disappointed with both the Tribute and Landlord neither of which seemed well kept.

Went back to try a London Pride and another Landlord (giving it a second chance) and some pork scratchings and then had to argue to get the brand of scratchings that I wanted because the wanted to give me "the older ones". And the same problem with the beer.

Dont think I'll be bothering going back and will look for a "local" in Stafford centre. 3/10

Mr Foley's Cask Ale House, Leeds

Despite living in leeds for 4 years I somehow managed to miss this place until about a fortnight ago. Since then spent four very pleasant afternoon/eveings in here.

Beer excellent and pretty varied and Ive found the food to be delicious and a bargain as well. Also the staff Ive seen are incredibly friendly and helpful, maybe the ones mentioned a couple of months ago on here have moved on?

The Golden Lion Hotel, Horton in Ribblesdale

I couldnt agree more with the comments about food we had exactly the same experience having prebooked were shoved away in a tatty side room on old plastic garden tables and chairs that were barely stable. Food was either all overcooked in the case of the steaks which all came extremely well done regardless of what was requested or microwaved out of the packet rubbish.

It still took them a couple of hours to produce all of the food though and at vastly different times.

Highlight of the evening was the "chef" (in the loosest sense of the word) having a fight with the owner in the kitchen which involved them throwing plates at each other and then him being kicked out. Sadly this was after he'd served up most of the meals although things didnt improve after he'd gone.

Beer was also off and we similarly had to have a long argument to get it changed.

Considering its great location and potential probably the most disappointing pub I have ever visited
