College Arms, Peterborough

What on Earth has happened to the Colllege Arms? It was never my favourite pub but I've been there many times and had good food there in the past. I took a group of friends there yesterday on the afternoon of the second May Bank Holiday. Here's what happened:
1. We were immediately told most (or perhaps half) of the drinks supposedly on tap were actually unavailable. This is when we should have left.
2. The barman apologised for serving us in plastic glasses but loads of people had been smashing the glass ones the night before. Great. A nice place then eh?
3. The bartender was very confused and did a spectacularly inept job of taking our drinks orders both times. He hinted he'd been doing a very long shift.
4. Later we ordered two sets of nachos for our table. Ten minutes later we were told that there weren't any nachos.
5. We ordered some cheesy chips instead (these were cheaper but we had to chase up the shortfall as this bartender - a different one now - cocked up the money). When these arrived, they had barely any cheese on them. We complained and they were replaced.
6. Three sets of people were thrown out by bouncers before half nine. We left.
Would anyone from the College Arms care to explain what on Earth is going on? Unless you enjoy inept service, a very small range of food and a violent unpleasant atmosphere, I'd wouldn't recommend the College Arms to anyone.
An absolute disaster.
