After a visit to the Burghley Club (not listed on here and definitely worthy of a mention), I ended up my visit to Peterborough at this branch of Wetherspoon's. It's more of the old men's version of the chain than the youngsters'/student hangout. Clientele included a few Bristol Rovers football fans and a guy being carted off in an ambulance. There is plenty of space. But it all feels a bit dated. Toilets are a good climb. Ales were Harviestoun Bitter & Twisted, Greene King Abbot, Ruddles Best, Ilkley Rombald & Adnams Anti Hipster Min. Ciders were Gwynt y Ddraig Black Dragon & Weston's Old Rosie & Marcle Hill. I've been to better 'spoons. But this one was adequate. blue_scrumpy - 6 Aug 2018 21:58 |
Large Wetherspoon's at the more downmarket end of the main shopping street in the city. Good ale selection but nothing special to reccommend it. Aztecgoat - 25 Jan 2015 09:30 |
poor pub full of drunk chavs old men and foreign blokes who think its ok to grab grope any women they see ,terrible door staff they seem to be a law unto themselves they seem to single people out for no reason and bar them . was in there with group people one of the ladies was being pestered by couple rowdy blokes when one tried to touch her her partner intervened to stop him pushed him away and then was barred by door staff you couldn't make it up told them what happened not interested made complaint to manager next day she was appalled by it. we will now avoid this place. riggs - 16 Oct 2012 13:56 |
I find this place terrifying. It is always filthy dirty and full of scary drunk people. Stay away!!!!! Yhapster - 25 Mar 2012 10:37 |
Sometimes had a good choice of ales although most of the lowlife who frequent this place would be happy with any old rubbish you serve them. Get rammed at weekend like all the other chain mega pubs nearby. We knick name it The Last Chance Salon has you only go there when all the other good pubs have closed and you cant be bothered to go to the nightclub or snooker hall.
