The George and Dragon, Houghton
Third visit to this pub. The pub is cosy, clean and welcoming and the selection of beers is good. The food is in the average price bracket for pubs and has a good selection of fish, meat and veggie options. The food was well presented, good size portions and speedily served. If I had to be picky it was being somewhat rushed to make a choice from the menu and being asked twice during the meal if everything was OK. I prefer to be left while eating and complain if I feel I need to. These points aside I shall return again, can't wait for the cold weather as this pub will be really cosy during the winter.

Visited on a Friday evening with great expectations but were soon let down. We managed to get served with drinks at the bar and were pointed toward a table. No offer to show us which table though. Service was abysmal and the male who eventually came and took our order was more interested in yakking to people he knew. The food was reasonable but a bit pricey. I had to hunt down a waitress in another part of the building to order sweet course.
The only thing worth going to this pub for is the view from the old bridge.
