The Plough, Dulwich
We met up with family and were planning to have a nice sunday roast. We sat at our table and decided what we were going to eat. It was fairly busy and we waited a short while for the waitress to take our order. About thirty minutes later a waiter came to our table with two plates of food one of which was fish and the other one a roast. We said that they were probably for another table, as none of us had ordered fish, but five of us had ordered the roast pork. So he left the one plate with the pork, luckily my son didn't touch the food, as thirty seconds later the waiter came back and took the plate away. Reminded me of a Basil Fawlty sketch. After an hour and a quarter, and two visits to the bar to ask when we could expect our food, the waiter brought four of the six meals to the table. Two of us watched the other four eat, and by then we had all lost our appetites due to being so angry. I finally decided to have a word with the 'manager', asked what had happened to our food, and was told there had been a glitch with the computer system and they had lost eight orders, but they had still managed to send four meals to our table. When I protested, I was told to calm down and he would speak to me when he'd sorted out the problem with another customers order. While I was waiting, a poor couple who were trying to get their food, just walked out in disgust. After I sat down to wait for an apology another lady went to enquire about her food. When we finally got an explanation, the 'manager' told us about the problem he had with staff. We made it clear that we had no intention of paying for the meals, which by the way, were of very poor quality, we've had better food at half the price, and were told that was fine. We were also given a card which would entitle us to a round of drinks free on our next visit. The card was thrown away. We will not be going back. As another reviewer said, this pub could be great in the right hands. You have been warned!
