The White Horse, Tilbrook

This nice old pub in Tilbrook, Cambridgeshire has recently changed hands. It had always had a good reputation for home cooked food at reasonable prices, so we decided to try their Sunday lunch which at �8.95 was about �3 dearer than under the old landlords.
We had starters, french onion soup, pat� and stuffed mushrooms which were fine although there was insufficient toast to go with the pat�. The main course, either roast beef or roast pork was really disappointing. The beef had been done to death and was chewy and tough and the yorkshire pudding was a sight to behold, flat spongy and overcooked, not the lovely light puffy yorkshire we are used to. The roast spuds were grim, again overcooked and tough and the vegetable selection was insufficient for 4 hungry diners. The pork was no better and the stuffing was not nice at all.
This young couple admit they have never run a pub before and it shows; confusion behind the bar and poor food will mean that they won't survive to run the White Horse for very long. My advice would be to find a new chef as a matter of urgency as the one they've got just hasn't got a clue.
